Il tratto fluido e veloce dei disegni dell'artista sarebbe sufficiente ad esprimere il vitalismo che emerge dalle sue opere, un vitalismo che è la chiave di lettura adatta per interpretare l'erotismo che le pervade. Fin da una prima occhiata le immagini cariche di passione erotica della giovane catalana appaiono inquietanti poiché sfuggono a una interpretazione univoca, aprendosi a una vasta gamma di significati e di riferimenti. Ciò rende la loro lettura un esperimento d'interpretazione impegnativo e interattivo, reso ancora più affascinante dal fatto che le immagini modificate digitalmente si basano su fotografie di cose e di persone reali, poi trasformate dalla fantasia dell'artista e dal suo processo creativo.

Nelle fotografie rielaborate i drammatici contorni neri sono attenuati dalle tinte pastello degli incarnati, sui quali risaltano i contorni e colori dei tatuaggi, che dall'essere visti come una pratica popolare, nelle rielaborazioni di Rita Martorell vengono nobilitati fino a diventare documento visibile della volontà di vivere e del vissuto esperienziale dei soggetti fotografati. In questo modo si potrebbe affermare che i personaggi ritratti sono così vivi da essere tatuati. Nelle lenzuola stropicciate, ricche di doppi sensi, ognuno può vedere ciò che vuole, in primis forme bizzarre e
talvolta grottesche, pieghe e contorsioni dotate di forti associazioni con porzioni di pelle e parti del corpo, secondo un procedere associativo che richiama alla mente il test psicologico delle macchie di Rorschach.

L’olotina Rita Martorell presenta des de l’11 de gener fins a l’11 de febrer a la Fundació Mudima de Milà un recull de la seva obra més recent. Des de la seva estada a Estrasburg Rita Martorell s’ha interessat pel expressionisme alemany. A les fotografies reelaborades, els dramàtics contorns negres queden atenuants pels tons pastel. S’ha elaborat un catàleg de l’exposició amb textos de l’historiadora d’art Barbara Rose, l’ex senador italià i membre del Parlament Europeu Jas Gawronski i la presidenta de Seacex Charo Otegui Pascual.

LONDON - Wonder, curiosity, bewilderment, there are many emotions that capture the audience before the works of Rita Martorell (Zurich 1971 by a Spanish family), on display until 11 February to the Foundation Mudima Milan. And after all, this is what he wants the young Catalan artist: his images are never unique. Rather to resemble an abstract painting, which in turn is interpreted by the viewer. It is to be welcomed that the answers are then stored. It would make a portrait not just of what we are watered down, what we want.

First stage is the bed (Sabanas, 2006-2010). This is the domain par excellence of our intimacy. Here we spend almost one third of life. In the bed we sleep, we dream, we make love. Rita Martorell shows it without false modesty, photographed in a monochrome range that goes from pink to purple. Focal point of his attention are the sheets with his name engraved on it. They evoke abstract forms, symbolic, full of double meanings, which may remind of unmade beds, bandaged or injured, rather than the pains of birth, copulation, or even the Holy Shroud.

The model here is the psychological test of the Swiss psychologist Hermann Rorschach, who in 1921 underwent some inkblots to patients, each with a bilateral symmetry. Through their responses, he was able to reconstruct a convincing picture of the different personalities, in terms of perception, emotions, motivations and cognitive operations. But the memory runs Martorell earlier: already in the fifteenth century Leonardo saw vague forms "a way to increase and cause the mind to various inventions" (Treatise on Painting).

Another favorite theme is the tattoo artist Catalan (Charles I, 2009; Locus I, 2010; The couple true, 2010). As the cycle of the bed base is photography. Except that the real figures, digitally reworked, are superimposed drawings, executed by the same Rita along the lines of Egon Schiele. The result is an original mix, born from the fusion of forms, where the contours of bodies of blacks, dramatic intensity, are mitigated by the pastel shades of the flesh, and where the colors of the tattoos stand out by contrast, witnessing the desperate vitality of the subjects.

Because there tatuiamo? There is a secret correspondence between the signs that these figures bear on the body and the abstract shapes evoke the sheets. In either case they have wounds, scars that carry the pain and fatigue of life. But at the same time protect it, wrap the individual, give you security. They are intimate and personal, tell a story that everyone is free to understand how he wants. And between these two poles that moves the art of Rita Martorell: gentle and passionate together, says so much with little. It affects no matter what the task is bigger (and difficult) of an artist: to tell the miracle of life.

La exposición “Live your Dreams” es una selección de 30 obras de gran formato, incluyendo la serie “sabanas” y “cuerpos”, trabajando ambas entre los fotomontajes digitales y dibujos digitalizados, ambas series están intervenidas con una fusión de imágenes de cuerpos tatuados que podrían ser tratadas como estratos arqueológicos y que permiten realizar un trabajo de arqueología para escudriñar los rincones más escondidos del ser humano.

A través de lo que se difumina en la fotografía queda perfectamente delimitado el dibujo y este se convierte en definitivo para entender el concepto global que quiere explicar la artista que también presenta una serie de fotografías que ha realizado en camas de sábanas rosadas o violetas vistas desde una perspectiva cenital. Las nuevas formas que compone, prácticamente no tienen nada que ver con las ropas que cubren las camas. Nuestra mirada busca algún objeto identificable, pero todo lo que aparece se ha formado de nuevo, tomando un cariz abstracto, indefinido e irreal.

Como si se tratara de un caleidoscopio enorme o de un juego de espejos que cubriera la habitación o el dormitorio. Los pliegos de los cojines y sábanas, las arrugas, las sombras y los claros, nos sugieren imágenes que pueden entenderse y mostrar a partir de la sugestión de los tests proyectivos de Rorschach y que apelan directamente al psicoanálisis. Estas imágenes se convierten en juegos y trampas visuales, engañando al espectador, formando así interpretaciones
